| Mission Projects |
**Mission Projects**
Westminster Church is committed to mission outside the walls of our congregation. Our goal is to reach at least 10% of our annual budget going to mission projects; once we reach that goal, we hope to go even higher. The more of it's resources a church gives to mission, the healthier that church is! Our mission support goes to support such projects as:
Marion Medical Mission
The Marion Medical Mission provides many services in Africa. Westminster has been active in supporting Marion Misson's Shallow Well Program, which helps provide safe drinking water to remote villages. The photo at the top of the page shows two Westminster members visiting the program in Malawi, Africa.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is supported by Westminster in a number of ways. Westminster is a charter member of the Fort Collins "Building on Faith Committee", contributes annually to the funding of the project, and sponsors a house-build workday of volunteers. We are also connected to Habitat International, and have provided financial support to build homes in Guatemala. Individuals or groups can purchase shares toward more homes at $100 each (total cost for a Hatitat House in Guatemala is $3,200).
CROP Walk
The Crop Walk benefits hungry people worldwide and in Larimer County. Westminster has won the "Sacred Sneaker" for having the highest financial contribution for four of the last five years in the Fort Collins CROP Walk. The next CROP Walk is scheduled for October 2010.
Mission Auction, Craft & Bake Sale
The Mission Auction is conducted annually. People donate time, talent, vacation places or handcrafted items, and these items are auctioned off at a Mission Auction Dinner raising over $6,200 this year for mission projects.
Presbyterian Missions
Westminster supports the following Presbyterian Mission programs: Disaster Assistance (Tsunami efforts, Katrina Victims Assistance, etc.), Minority Education and Hunger Relief.
Blanket Sunday
Blanket Sunday is an offering that is received in November to benefit those around the world suffering from homelessness and/or disasters. Over 200 blankets were donated last year.
Highlands Camp
Highlands Presbyterian Camp Scholarship Fund provides funds for youths to attend camp at Allenspark, Colorado. More information about the camp can be found by clicking here Highlands
Equal Exchange/Fair Trade Coffee for purchase
Available for sale in the narthex on an ongoing basis, we have several different varieties of coffee for sale through this program sponsored by the Presbyterian Coffee Project. For each pound of coffee purchased, Equal Exchange makes a contribution to the Presbyterian "Small Farmers Fund" for projects supporting small farmers and their families.
Pasta in the Rockies
An annual fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity started by the WPC Bridge Club about 10 years ago, Pasta in the Rockies usually takes place on a Saturday evening during the summer. The event consists of gourmet pasta and sauces served in an outdoor setting with live entertainment and plenty of drinks and dessert choices. All donations go to HFH. For more information, contact Bob Vangermeersch at WPC.
Food Basket Mission
Organized by the Tangent Bible Study participants under the leadership of Ardith Connors, WPC assists in providing food baskets to those in special need. Donations are welcome including all types of food items as well as baskets to present them in. For more information, contact Ardith at WPC.
